Copyrights and Licensing

The Hammurabi Journal of Medical Sciences (HJMS) requires all authors to complete and sign a Copyright Transfer and Author Agreement Form as a condition of publication.

By submitting a manuscript to HJMS, authors confirm that the work is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. All authors must meet the authorship criteria defined by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and must have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, analysis, interpretation, or writing of the manuscript.

Upon acceptance and publication of the manuscript, authors transfer copyright ownership of the article to HJMS. This transfer includes, but is not limited to, the following rights:

  • The exclusive right to publish, reproduce, distribute, and archive the article in print and electronic formats;

  • The right to authorize the republication of the article, in whole or in part, with or without a fee;

  • The right to produce reprints, preprints, translations, and derivative formats for academic or educational purposes;

  • The right to include the article in journal collections, databases, and other mechanical or electronic media.

Authors retain the right to use their published work for scholarly and educational purposes, including self-archiving, teaching, and inclusion in theses or institutional repositories, provided that proper citation to the original publication in HJMS is clearly stated.

All articles published in HJMS are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License, unless otherwise stated in writing by the journal. This license permits users to share and adapt the material for non-commercial purposes, provided appropriate credit is given, changes are indicated, and derivative works are distributed under the same license terms.

The corresponding author is authorized to act on behalf of all co-authors in all communications with the journal, including responding to editorial queries, approving revisions, and reviewing proofs. The corresponding author also serves as the guarantor of the integrity and accuracy of the work.

Authors are responsible for disclosing all financial support and potential conflicts of interest related to the submitted work. Any individuals who contributed substantially to the manuscript but do not meet authorship criteria must be acknowledged with their written permission.

HJMS reserves the right to retract, correct, or issue expressions of concern for published articles in cases of proven ethical misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, or undisclosed conflicts of interest, in accordance with COPE guidelines.
