Archiving Policy

To ensure the long-term preservation, accessibility, and integrity of its scholarly content, the Hammurabi Journal of Medical Sciences (HJMS) has implemented a comprehensive digital archiving and preservation strategy based on internationally recognized standards.

Digital Preservation
All published articles are securely stored on the journal’s primary servers with routine backup procedures to safeguard data integrity and ensure long-term availability.

Institutional Repository Archiving
Final versions of all published articles are systematically deposited in the official institutional repository affiliated with the journal, ensuring institutional stewardship and permanent scholarly access.

Author Self-Archiving Policy
HJMS permits and actively encourages authors to self-archive the final published PDF version of their articles in personal websites, institutional repositories, and discipline-specific archives immediately upon publication, provided that the original publication in HJMS is properly cited.

Metadata Preservation and Indexing
Comprehensive bibliographic metadata—including article titles, abstracts, keywords, author information, and Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs)—are preserved and disseminated across multiple indexing and abstracting platforms to enhance visibility, discoverability, and citation durability.

PKP Preservation Network (PN)
HJMS participates in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which provides free and distributed digital preservation services for journals operating under the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform and meeting its eligibility requirements.

National Legal Deposit
The journal is registered with the Iraqi National Library and Archives under Deposit Registration Number 2723-2024, ensuring national-level preservation and compliance with legal deposit requirements.
